Prasat Beng Mealea
Beng Mealea lies about 60 km east of the main Angkor group. Its architectural style closely follows Angkor Wat, so it is generally attributed to the reign of Suryavarman II.
Very little reconstruction has taken place. Collapsed galleries, root systems and moss give the site an atmosphere quite different from the restored temples.
Raised wooden walkways run through the interior so visitors can move safely between the fallen blocks.
